Christ Is Preached Writing for J.B. Church 7th Anniversary
"What then? Not with standing, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice." (Phil 1:18)
It is God who led us to start the ministry in JB. Though we are little in strength, God considers us faithful. The gospel outreach and the B-P witness in Johor Bahru started way back in the 80's. The ministry took a down turn when the Sunday services ceased to operate in the 90's. Somehow God laid a burden in our hearts to reach out to the people in JB and we revived worship service in the year two thousand. From a monthly Sunset Gospel Hour, we now have the Evening Service running every week. Besides, the Thursday night Bible study is being held every fortnightly.
If you ask me what has been done in the past? My answer is simple: Christ is preached! Yes, that's what we have been doing. Though there are many Churches in Johor Bahru, our mandate is to preach the gospel to all nations. We just simply obey what Christ has commissioned us to do.
As concerning the JB ministry, we must thank God for His special guidance and provision that it could continue till now. Though we are weak and small in numbers, God is using us to reach out and to build lives.
Firstly, we thank God for the steadfastness of our JB members and friends who are doing their best to upkeep the ministry through their attendance and financial support. Though without a fulltime Church worker, these faithful few continue to pray and labour for the Lord. They have taken the initiative to evangelise and visit new comers. They helped to invite friends and neighbours to the Church. They are also involved in mission support and charitable works. Truly, God is using them as the core group to further reach out to others.
Secondly, we have the strong support from the Session and members of Kulai Church. Both Session members and members from Kulai come to help in the Sunset ministry every week without fail. Sometimes you can see the whole family is involved. I believe this has been a great encouragement to the brethren in JB. Starting last year, we have Elder Peter to lead the Bible study whenever I was absent. Now, even Deacon Jeffrey Foo gave a helping hand when both of us are not available.
Thirdly, God has sent many faithful messengers (especially those who came from Singapore) to minister at the pulpit. Truly we thank God for a very consistent supply of God's Word through preaching and teaching. It has never been easy, but God always see us through.
Therefore, may I invite you to come and rejoice with our JB brethren for the celebration of their 7th Anniversary next Sunday (28th October 2007).
Yours' Affectionately,
Pastor David Wong
Thailand Mission Updates
Date: 12th September 2007
Dear Rev. Wong, Session and Members of Kulai Church,
Peace be unto you!
We greet you in the Lord from Thailand! May God keep you and bless you with good health and strength, that the Church will continue to grow from strength to strength.
1.
Thanks to God for five converts during the month of July & August in Muang Na Shiloh Church. The five of them are: sister Lo Xue Fei, sister Li Xin Cohong, sister Qing Zheng, sister Xiao Si and brother Nong Di. Do pray especially for sister Lo Xue Fei as she is facing persecution and objection from her husband. May the Lord keep and sustain the faith of these new believers.
2.
By God's provision, our Church has laid a concrete road leading from the main road to the Church gate. This is convenient for the worshippers to come to Church, particularly during raining season.
3.
For future development, our Church intends to buy over the property (belonging to a Buddhist group) next to our Church. Words had been passed around that they are considering selling the property now. Please pray!
4.
Do continue to pray for the education ministry. In the month of October, we will be taking another 25 students and the total number exceeds a hundred. Though our hands are tied and getting very busy, but our heart is full of joy in serving the Lord for this out of God's own will and pleasure. To us, a child is like a clean sheet of paper. He who keeps company with the wolf will learn to howl. So we must take hold of the opportunity to minister the gospel to them. Some of these children have quietly accepted the Lord, may the Lord bless them.
5.
Six catechumen are attending the catechism class now in preparation for water baptism; may God strengthen their faith.
May the Lord grant you a blessed Lantern Festival!
Yours' Faithfully,
Ev. He De Ern
